Educational qualifiations
  • Bachelor’s degree in in Engineering (Mechanical or Electrical are preferred)
Experience required
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in facilities maintenance field
  • Good knowledge and experience in mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems operation and maintenance and health and safety practices
  • Proficient in HVAC engineering and systems controls;
  • Good knowledge and experience in the principles and techniques of maintenance contract management;
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work under pressure and IT proficient
Job responsiblities
  • Reports to the Director of Facilities
  • Maintain reliable facility infrastructure systems including but not limited to:
    • heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) Systems;
    • elevators and escalators;
    • plumbing systems, pumps, heaters, waste water system;
    • building management systems (BMS);
    • lighting, power supply and other electrical systems;
    • Irrigation and water feature systems;
    • Fire, safety, smoke detector, life safety systems;
    • Emergency power supply;
    • CCTV;
    • Furniture, fixtures and equipment
  • Develop and manage planned preventive maintenance (ppm) activities and recommended frequencies for inspection and ppm actions;
  • Develop and maintain an effective asset register and Information;
  • Attend and wetness commissioning and testing of related systems;
  • Recommends changes to systems, policies, and procedures for maximum efficiency;
  • Develops and manages the operating and maintenance budgets to ensure cost efficiency;
  • Manage inventory of spare parts and equipment;
  • Assist with set up of event activity, employee relocations and furniture reconfigurations and moving;
  • Conduct field routine inspections of all community facilities and rate the condition of the assets;
  • Monitor energy and water consumption in university facilities and recommend course of control action;
  • Respond to emergencies on a 24-hour basis, including power outages (UPS alarms), leaks, fire or smoke activity, loss of critical cooling, etc.
  • Responds to daily staff facility requests i.e. hot and cold calls, lighting, janitorial, desk and ceiling repairs, carpentry, and furniture & box movement.
  • Apply administrative and technical knowledge to assure compliance with contracts, follow proper inspection techniques to examine workmanship and materials, detect deviations from plans, regulations, and standard maintenance practices;
  • Assisting with contract development, planning, supervision, updating KPIs, and analysis, as well as communication of service providers performance and contract compliance;
  • Prepare and distribute reports and statistical data, maintenance of accurate contract records and files;
  • Oversee and manage small capital and construction projects;
  • Act as the approving and noting Engineer according to permits procedures;
