Keypoint rebrands trust services

Manama, 4 December 2017

Keypoint, which has been offering trustee and trust administration services since 2008 as Intertrust (Middle East) in conjunction with Intertrust, has announced that it is now the sole owner of its trust practice. The business, rebranded Keypoint Trust, will continue to focus on and further develop its services in corporate restructuring, employee stock options (ESOPs), charities and family groups within the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Guruparan Kumarasamy, the chairman of Keypoint Trust, commented, “The Kingdom of Bahrain has continued – under the guidance of the Central Bank of Bahrain – to establish itself as a leader in the Middle East for trusts, with a number of regulatory updates that should help the market to grow. In the last six months alone, we have seen the introduction of a regulatory sandbox (aimed at encouraging the growth of the fintech sector), new rules pertaining to exchange traded funds, new requirements of ESOPs, and – most recently – the introduction of retail REITs.  We look forward to deepening our relationships with both our regulator and our growing clientele, which includes listed and unlisted financial institutions, high net worth individuals and holding companies.”

Wajdi Al Jallad, the managing director of Keypoint Trust and the wider Keypoint Group, added: “Our long-standing collaboration with Intertrust has helped us develop both the knowledge and the experience needed to differentiate our trust service offerings. We continue to work with Intertrust and have great confidence in our new management who are trusted advisers. We are excited by the range of opportunities in the current marketplace. Our broad range of trust services - from employee ownership and incentive schemes to the establishment of family trusts and succession planning for family businesses – are tried and tested. I am confident that our multi-lingual, experienced team – backed up by over 70 professionals in the wider Keypoint team based in Bahrain – will continue their efforts to establish Bahrain as a key provider of trust services.”

Tania Bearryman, who was vice-chair of Intertrust (Middle East), said “We have worked side-by-side with Keypoint since the establishment of our joint venture trust business in 2008 and continue to have a number of mutual clients in the GCC. We continue to receive requests for Bahraini trust services and we will work in collaboration with Keypoint Trust to deliver the best solution to our clients. Through this collaboration, we continue to blend local knowledge and an on-the-ground presence with international expertise to deliver complex and high-value solutions to our mutual clients. We wish Keypoint Trust every success in the future, helping to develop Bahrain as the GCC’s centre of excellence in trust services."
